Xiamen 2009

As an ASIFA international board member, I was invited to the second annual Xiamen animation festival, where I gave a talk on early American animation.

Here's a photo:

I have some footage as well.

Lots more pictures from Xiamen

Thanks to Anni and Jonchill of ASIFA-China for inviting us!

So cool! Your pictures are amazing!

How did the talk go? And how was traveling to get there?

Derick: It was fun!! So great to hear from you! The festival has some problems (for instance, we didn't see any animation), but China was fascinating and they gave us nice food and rooms.

Alex: Thank you!!! I'm so glad you like my pictures, eeee! The talk went well- people seemed to enjoy it! I got most of the films from archive.org.

Traveling there took sooooooo long! ATL to LA, then to Guangzhou, then to Xiamen. Pretty exhausting but worth it.
